This anthology of the Nazis’ legal theory represents a cornerstone of the ERC project. It uncovers the normative foundations and the jurisprudential nature of the Nazi legal system and gives a detailed account of the Nazis’ own legal philosophy.

In particular, this book reveals how Nazi jurists and legal philosophers attempted to justify gross departures from the rule of law, and why they felt normatively authorised in erecting a legal system that, among other things, eliminated and distorted legal security, permitted judicial arbitrariness, and denied epistemic access to what the law requires.
