The Moral Standpoint: First-Personal or Second-Personal?
Abstract
In this review article I discuss Steven Darwall’s account of morality in terms of the second-person standpoint. I specifically explore the question whether Darwalls’s second-personal reconstruction of the Kantian framework is more plausible than a first-person reading of Kant’s theory. In particular I compare Darwall’s account with Christine M. Korsgaard’s first-person interpretation of Kantian morality.
